About Job Opening:

This post is found at the United Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL). Under the overall supervision of the Director of the Human Rights, Transitional Justice and Rule of Law Division, the incumbent shall carry out the following functions.

Education:

Advanced University Degree (Masters or equivalent), preferably in law, political science, international relations or other disciplines related to human rights is required. A first-level university degree in combination with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree. The study of Islamic Law (sharia) is desirable.

Work Experience: 

At least seven years of progressively responsible experience at national or international levels in the human rights field is required. Experience providing technical assistance to security sector institutions and experience and capacity building in the Middle East and North Africa region is required. Knowledge of or working experience in Islamic Law (sharia) is desirable. Qualifying years of experience are calculated following the receipt of the first-level university degree recognized by the United Nations.

Languages:

English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For the position advertised, fluency in English and Arabic are required.
